Journaling For Health

I just read the story of a young man in England who is dying of leukemia. He has been through chemotherapy and radiation therapy twice. He has also had a bone marrow transplant. He has suffered through the side effects of the new bone marrow attacking his body. He has been on steroids and other drugs.

Let's say you went to a mechanic and said your engine is making this loud ominous knocking noise. It's so loud that you're sure the engine is sustaining additional damage with every day that you drive the car. The mechanic looks at the engine and after a brief time gives you the disposition. He hands you a pair of ear plugs and advises that you should wear them each time you drive the car. His position is that you won't be bothered by the noise any longer because you won't hear it! Did he fix the problem? Will the engine surely fail - eventually? Would you seriously take his advice and drive off, ear plugs in place and a smile on your face? Then why do you take similar advice from your physician when he or she hands you a pill?

Before I proceed, I will caution you. Do not get into trap of taking any kind of allopathic medicine to enhance your memory. This will have more side effects than bringing good to your health.

Or Ayurveda over allopath should I ask rather did they work more than temporarily? They might have done the trick for a while, but recurrences have been fairly inevitable, right? Many years later, my friend was telling me that his father, who had had a stroke, couldn't move his limbs on one side. I suggested that he tell his father to visualize his hand opening and closing and to visualize his fingers holding an object. Once his brain sent the message to his hand, the healing could begin. I walked him through the process, both in the visualization and in the talking to his limbs and getting them to gently respond to his commands. He told his family what I had said and they thought read more the idea was ridiculous until their father's neurologist told them the same thing.

We see the rationalists approach today in modern medicine. Drugs are prescribed that solely address symptoms. Those exclusively lower blood pressure and cholesterol or increase bone mineral uptake to reduce osteoporosis without identifying and treating the root of the problem in the first place. The problem with these and many drugs like them is they carry side effects. And with some, the side effects are just marginally less then the negative effects of the diseases they treat. Practitioners and pharmaceutical companies will argue that the side effects are overstated or less life threatening than the actual disease itself - and in some instances this is true. But in most cases its not.

When you are having pain in a particular part of your body, talk to it. I know it sounds silly, but give it a try. Ask it why it is hurting? You very well may find the answer to relieving the pain is held within the discomfort. You then have a choice of whether or not to make changes in your life or be in physical discomfort.
